Hello you,
How are you? I bet you either didn’t answer or you just said the usual ‘I am Fine!’. Take two minutes, keep your feet on the ground, then assess how your whole body feels from head to toe. What emotions stand out in each part of your body? Then answer me again. How are you?
I have been stewing on what kind of first article I would put out here. What would I say? How would I say it? How could I repay you for the attention you have bestowed on me? So many questions and fears. Then I decided we could start by appreciating May, the Mental Awareness Month and my birthday month (Picture lots of confetti).
Today, I am recruiting you to be a mental advocate in five ways with a twist. I want you to be the best mental health advocate for yourself.
The Mental Awareness Month was created by 1949 in the USA by the National Alliance on Mental Illness to address the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions. Strange isn’t? Mental health advocacy has been here for a while now, and yet the world is so far behind in actually getting it right. In fact, we have been suffering the past couple of years and experts say that it’s worsening.

What did you do this month to honour this noble cause? Would you call yourself a mental health advocate? Don’t worry if you don’t want to embrace that title just yet. I cringe when someone calls me that, even though I have a whole platform that talks about that. Today, I am recruiting you to be a mental advocate in five ways with a twist. I want you to be the best mental health advocate for yourself. Live out your philosophies you hold about mental.
